This program provides a reduction of up to $100,000 in actual value if the property owner is 65 years of age and has lived in the home for 10 years or more. Both criteria must exist on January 1 of that year to be eligible for the tax exemption the following year.
Property owners must apply for the exemption by submitting a form to the Assessor’s Office by July 15, 2023. There are two forms available on the Assessor’s website — the property owner can select the correct form based on the type of ownership on the property. Once the exemption is approved, it is unnecessary to apply again unless the ownership of the property changes.
